LEED & BREEAM CERTIFICATION SYSTEM

Hello guys! It’s been almost a year not to publish a post here, and I really miss to share some architectural information with you. 🙂

Now, I study as a third-year student. I made a research about Leed & Breeam Certifications in my Arch 372 (Building Technologies in Architecure) course. I had to chose a green building which has one of these certifications and I chose 35. Street designed by Teğet Mimarlık in 2014, İzmir. 35. Street has Breeam Certification in Very Good category. Thus, I will talking about what Breeam is, firstly.

Breeam -which is the capitals of British Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method- is the certification system evaluating buildings in terms of Sustainability. It (founded in 1990, UK) is the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for masterplanning projects, infrastructure and buildings. It addresses a number of lifecycle stages such as New Construction, Refurbishment and In-Use. Here, you can see the logo, scoring system and benefits of breeam certification.

In our century, sustainability is very first thing while designing and constructing buildings because almost more than 40% of karbondixoside is released to the atmosphere by buildings and we as architects and engineers have to minimize this emission by designing sustainable and eco-friendly constructions.

35. Street is the first dwelling project which has Breeam Certification and it is the biggest steel construction in Turkey. By the help of following pictures, you can analize the project and its properties.
